Dua for Success and Ease

Sourced from the Qur’an and canonical hadith collections · updated July 2026

There is no magic "exam dua" in the sunnah — there is something better: a dua for when a thing is heavier than you are, and the dua Musa (as) made before walking in to confront Pharaoh.

اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلًا

Allāhumma lā sahla illā mā jaʿaltahu sahlā, wa anta tajʿalul-ḥazna idhā shi’ta sahlā.

"O Allah, nothing is easy except what You make easy — and You make the difficult, when You will, easy."

Sahih Ibn Hibban 2427

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

Rabbi-shraḥ lī ṣadrī, wa yassir lī amrī, waḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī, yafqahū qawlī.

"My Lord, expand for me my chest, ease my task for me, and untie the knot from my tongue so they understand my speech."

Qur’an 20:25–28 — the dua of Musa (as) before facing Pharaoh

How and when to say it

Say the first when the task feels impossible — it reframes ease as something Allah places, not something you force.

Musa’s dua is made for the moment before you perform: exams, interviews, presentations, hard talks.

Dua works alongside preparation, not instead of it — tie the knot, then trust.

Never lose a dua again

Honest answers

What is the dua for exam success?

There is no specific exam dua in the sunnah, but two authentic duas fit perfectly: "Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja’altahu sahla" (Ibn Hibban 2427) and the dua of Musa, "Rabbi-shrah li sadri..." (Qur’an 20:25–28).
