Usually an anxious dream; sometimes read as fear, a rival, or something avoided.

Dreaming of being chased in Islam is usually treated as an anxious dream: fear you carried into sleep, or the Shaitan trying to frighten you. When interpreters did read it, they tied it to worry, an adversary, or something you are avoiding. It is not a sign that anyone is truly after you, and it is not something to fear.

“then he should get up and perform Salah”
Jami at-Tirmidhi 2280
This hadith names dreams in which the Shaitan frightens someone as one of three kinds. For a dream you dislike, its answer is to rise and pray, not to work out who was chasing you.
قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

When Musa's people saw Pharaoh's army behind them and feared they would be overtaken, this was his reply. Being pursued is met, in the Qur'an, with Allah's nearness.
Running in a dream can leave your heart pounding long after you wake. Take a slow breath first; you are safe here. Then, gently, notice whether the chase felt like a person or more like a pressure you have been carrying. Naming it often makes it smaller. What have you been avoiding that you could hand to Allah today?
Being chased in a dream is frightening, but it is not a warning and it says nothing about who is against you. Do not let it make you suspicious of anyone. Seek refuge in Allah, blow lightly to your left, turn over, and if the fear stays, get up and pray. You are not running alone; Allah is with you.
Thank Allah for it. If you tell it, tell someone who loves you or someone with sound judgment.

Sahih Muslim 2261, 2262, 2263 · the Prophet ﷺ said it “will not harm him” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6985)

No. A dream is never proof about a real person, and it should not make you suspect anyone. Only Allah knows the unseen (Qur'an 27:65). If the dream left you uneasy, seek refuge in Allah, blow lightly to your left three times and turn over, and it will not harm you (Sahih Muslim 2261 and 2262).
Some interpreters let the animal shape the reading, as in the old link between a snake and a hidden enemy. These links are uncertain and never point at a real person. If one animal stood out in your dream, its own page here says more, held as heritage rather than prophecy.
Escaping, hiding safely or reaching a place of shelter is widely read in the tradition as relief, a fear easing. It is a gentle ending to a hard dream. Let the relief you felt on waking turn into a quiet word of thanks to Allah, without reading it as a promise about anything.
