A dream of praying is usually read as a good dream: the tradition links salah in sleep with steadfastness in religion, a duty or trust kept, and relief after a hard time. It is not a score of your worship, and it does not replace the prayer itself. At its best, it is a nudge toward the next prayer you are about to pray.

And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]

The Qur’an presents prayer as help, not only duty. Many readings of this dream follow that line: prayer in sleep as the heart seeking relief from Allah.
“a righteous man if he only prays more at night”
Sahih al-Bukhari 7031
A young Companion had a frightening dream, and the Prophet ﷺ answered it by pointing him toward night prayer. From then on he prayed more at night. The best fruit of a dream is more worship, not more worry.
A dream of praying can feel like your heart rehearsing something it misses. Whether your prayers have been steady or scattered lately, the door is the same door. You do not need to wait for a better week to walk through it. Which prayer today could you pray slowly, as if it were the only one?
If you dreamt of praying, there is nothing to decode before you act on it. The simplest response is the truest one: pray the next prayer with a little more presence. And if the dream was of missing a prayer, let it be a reminder, not a weight. Allah is near, and He answers the one who calls on Him (2:186).
Thank Allah for it. If you tell it, tell someone who loves you or someone with sound judgment.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6985 · Sunan Abi Dawud 5020
Sahih Muslim 2261, 2262, 2263 · the Prophet ﷺ said it “will not harm him” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6985)
In Hush you can tell Layla everything you saw. She listens, reminds you what the sunnah says, and helps your heart settle. Never a fortune.

The Qur’an calls us to seek help through patience and prayer (2:45), and many readings follow that line. It is not a grade on your worship. Let it lead you to your next prayer.
There is no fixed classical reading for this. It is not a verdict on you, and it says nothing about your future. Often it is simply a sincere worry about prayer surfacing in sleep. If it unsettled you, make up any prayer you truly missed, and pray the next one with a little more care.
Many people have this dream in a season when prayer feels far. It is not a judgment, and no one can tell you what it means for you. If it left a longing, that longing is worth listening to. The Prophet ﷺ answered a young Companion’s frightening dream by pointing him toward prayer (Sahih al-Bukhari 7031).
The tradition tends to read it kindly, as goodness or steadfastness in that person. It is not a statement about their real state with Allah, which only He knows, and it is no reason to praise or suspect anyone. If they were on your mind, you can make dua for them by name.
