Dua for Protection from the Evil Eye
The sunnah’s answer to the evil eye is not amulets or symbols — it is words of refuge. One sentence for any stop along the way, and two surahs the Prophet ﷺ called unmatched as protection.
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Aʿūdhu bikalimātillāhit-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq.
"I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created."
Sahih Muslim 2708 — whoever says it when stopping at a place, nothing will harm him until he departs
How and when to say it
Recite Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas morning and evening — the Prophet ﷺ said no seeker of refuge has sought it with anything like them (related in Sunan Abi Dawud 5082).
When you admire something, say "mā shā’ Allāh" or "bārakallāh" — the sunnah’s etiquette for not transmitting the eye.
Avoid charms and symbols marketed as protection; the sunnah places protection in remembrance, not objects.
