Dua for the Sick
When the Prophet ﷺ visited the sick, he did two things: he asked the Lord of the Throne for their cure, and he reminded the ill that the only true healing is Allah’s.
أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ
As’alullāhal-ʿAẓīma Rabbal-ʿArshil-ʿAẓīmi an yashfiyak.
"I ask Allah the Mighty, Lord of the Mighty Throne, to cure you." — said seven times at the bedside.
Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 2083, Sunan Abi Dawud 3106 — whoever visits a sick person not yet at the point of death and says it seven times, Allah will cure them of that illness
أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ اشْفِ وَأَنْتَ الشَّافِي لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
Adhhibil-ba’sa Rabban-nās, ishfi wa antash-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uk, shifā’an lā yughādiru saqamā.
"Remove the harm, Lord of mankind. Heal — for You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing: a healing that leaves no illness behind."
Sahih al-Bukhari 5675 — the Prophet ﷺ said it while wiping the sick person with his right hand
How and when to say it
The first dua is for visitors: seven times, while the person is still hoped to recover.
The second can be said for yourself or anyone ill; the sunnah pairs it with placing the right hand on the person.
Dua and medicine are not rivals in Islam — the Prophet ﷺ commanded seeking treatment too.

What dua do you say for a sick person?
"As’alullahal-’Azima Rabbal-’Arshil-’Azimi an yashfiyak" seven times (Tirmidhi 2083), and the healing dua "Adhhibil-ba’sa Rabban-nas..." (Sahih al-Bukhari 5675).
