Which Surahs to Read for Protection
Protection in the sunnah is specific: which verses, which times, which promise. Here is the short list that is actually authentic — nothing folkloric.
Al-Falaq & an-Nas — the two refuges
The Prophet ﷺ said no seeker of refuge has ever sought it with anything like these two surahs (Sunan Abi Dawud 5082). Said three times morning and evening, the narration adds, "they will suffice you against everything" (Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3575).
Ayatul Kursi — the guarded night
Recited when going to bed, "a guardian from Allah will remain with you, and no shaytan will approach you until morning" (Sahih al-Bukhari 2311). We broke the whole verse down word by word in the Ayatul Kursi guide.
The last two verses of al-Baqarah
"Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him" (Sahih al-Bukhari 5009). Two verses, under a minute, every night.
Al-Baqarah in the house
"Do not turn your houses into graves — shaytan flees from the house in which Surah al-Baqarah is recited" (Sahih Muslim 780). Even played and listened to attentively, a home with Baqarah in it is a different home.

Which surah protects you from everything?
